Iyengar
is a traditional yoga developed by Sri B.K.S.
Iyengar. This method places special focus on
developing strength, endurance and correct body
alignment, in addition to flexibility and relaxation.
The Iyengar method is recommended for students
interested in spending time developing greater
awareness of and refinement within each yoga
posture.
As the various asanas (postures) are performed,
the mind is focused on the actions of the posture
and the movement of the breath. This unites
the mind, the body and the breath, allowing
students to move into a meditative state. |
